Tamper Proof Your Land Title: Convert to E-Title Now

Are you aware that you can now convert your land title from a manual title to an E- title?

The land title is the common term for TCT or Transfer Certificate of Title.  It’s your best proof of ownership to a piece of land.  It details the property’s location and the size of the land among others. Each TCT has a unique registration number as well as your legal name on it.  The LRA keeps your original land title inside its vault and when you plan to make a transaction with your land, like selling or transferring of ownership, your duplicate copy must match the original title.  The title in your possession is the duplicate TCT.  Now according to LRA,  most of the fraud involving titles are on the owners duplicate TCT.  Aside from this, paper titles are susceptible to loss, fire and wear and tear.

The Land Titling Conversion Project

The Authority’s answer to this is land title conversion to E-title.  The LRA has embarked on a Land Titling Conversion Project Original titles in the registry of deeds vaults are now digitized and stored in the computer database while owner’s duplicate copies can now be converted to  E-titles which are immune from the dangers that paper titles are exposed to.

Landowners are also spared from the expensive and tedious reconstitution process whenever the original titles are lost or destroyed.  With the use of technology, the E-title now empowers the LRA to further improve its delivery of services.  The E- titles also address the risk management requirements of banks and other institutions.  So do not delay any further and convert your E-titles now.  While the LRA is doing its part you must also do your share as a landowner.

How Do You Convert Your Land Title To E- Title
  1.  Bring your owner’s duplicate title and other required documents to the Registry of Deeds (ROD) or nearest satellite office.
  2. The LRA personnel will match the duplicate copy to the original to validate authenticity.
  3. Once validated, the conversion process of your manual title to E-title will commence and after a few days your duplicate copy will be ready for pickup, all for the price of a movie ticket!
